Joya de Ceren, El Salvador

Another group of ruins, also under a shelter. This group isn't far from the other two.

Joya de Ceren is a group of Maya ruins just a few kilometers outside San Salvador, the capital city of El Salvador.

I just came back from spending ten days with Patty in her town of Papaturro, which is about 35 miles NW of the capital. We did travel a bit by bus, and this was one of those trips. Papaturro is out the highway to Suchitoto, and then down a very rough, rocky dirt road over two miles. The rocks appear to have been purposefully set to avoid problems with mud. There are many rocks, all set very close to each other to cover the road.
