High Mountain Doings

From 8200 feet along one side of the Upper Arkansas River Valley in central Colorado, my blog is about many things: travel including river and bicycle trips, and other experiences as well. The focus is on photography, not lots of text.

The Loneliest Highway in America

Highway 50 across Nevada. The "Loneliest Highway in America" is truly wonderful! I like being alone when not in the company of an awesome person. This time, I was alone in powerful terrain.

A friend saw this photo, and said the distant mountain range looked like it was floating! This was confusing. The light area is a playa, or dry lake bed.

What glorious vistas await those on the "Loneliest Highway in America"...One does not feel alone but surrounded and consumed by the most precious elements that our provider has graced us with to ensure our moments are full of love and pleasure. Thank you Sir Thomas for the devotion to your quest of bringing the images that reassure us that we are not alone.

If you are looking for solitude, this is one place you can get it while still in the car. You can imagine you're on Mars or some other exotic place. Occasionally, very occasionally, you find a small town with interesting bars and relics...
